- Sorry folks! I've had way to many complaints about all the language and topics here. Marty has asked that I clean house.
Could we please stick to the subjects of Poppy Mountain AND Bluegrass music. As a not so smart famous person once said "Can't We All Just Get Along?" Thanks to all! And Happy Poppy!
- Well said.
- Good Job Chris
- Good call guys. Hopefully we can all get back in the Poppy spirit again.
Can't wait til next year!!!
- thanks chris for all the good work the spirt is still on the mountain i thank it will always be there HAPPY POPPY
- Well said Marty! The spirit on the mountain comes from the people who travel from miles and miles around to enjoy and share some darn fine bluegrass music.
My little brother Ray picks until his fingers bleed when he's on the mountain. If you tell him to take a break, he says, "no way. Poppy Mountain only comes once a year and I come to pick!"
- As a former offical pioppy mountain photographer starting in 1995 I have been a big part of promoting this festival. As with all the people that worked for marty that were used, abused and abanded I have a unique perspective on the decline of the old spirit of this festival. To call it a family festival with all the moonshine, store bought liquior, pot and other drugs in wide spreed use it is at times a Bluegrsaa embarisment. In the years I was the only offical photographer I've seen the dark side of the festival and it's not about family. What it is about is lieing and ripping off of the very people that helped make the festiva by my old forever fiend "Marty" Its all about The Money Stupid. When I became the photograapher for the festival after marty said he needed me because he couldn't get any photographers to cover the festival. That was the beggining of a relation that I ended two years ago because Marty lied to me for the last time. For those that enjoy Poppy Mountain, party on its a blast, I'll miss the great people I got to know and love and all the good times I've had. As far as being aFamily Bluegrass Festival, you'll have to be the judge of that. As for me its just another sad dissapiontment in a long life. I wish all the fans well and have a good Poppy. Party on?? Col. Tom
- I know that you sound upset. I love to go to poppy. It is relaxing and peaceful time for me--even with all the noise--I love it!! I just figure that if no one is hurting any one else, then there is no reeson to start trying to "police" the festival. There is good clean fun. I hope that it soes not change.
- 2003 was my first Poppy Mountain experience. I was fortunate enough to perform on the showcase stage with my band, The Hillbilly Gypsies. It was a wonderful experience that myself and my band mates will always cherish. Anyway, the people that I met during my stay at Poppy Mountain were some of the finest and kindest folks you could ever want to meet. Dispite the Moonshine, store bought liquior, pot and/or what ever else was in use, I can't say anything bad about the Poppy Mountain Scene. I plan to come back next year and every year. I also plan to bring my kid, my wife, my mom n pops, and as many of the rest of my friends and family as i can bring together for Poppy 2004! Look for me up on Jammin' Ridge late night doin alot of Pickin' n' Grinnin'!!!
I'm with good ol' Ray... Poppy only comes once a year and I come to pick too!! Till' those fingers bleed!!! Keep on pickin' folks. Trae Buckner ~ "The Hillbilly Gypsies" www.thehillbillygypsies.com
